Spelling Bee

The second round was held in the school, but then four students got through to the third round. Those students were: Claudia Chitty (7L) and Natacha Maurin (7H) were the Spanish students, and Evie Stoneman (7B) and Dexann Charlie-Warner (7O) were the French students. They all had to learn 150 words and how to spell them correctly in their language for the third round. The students went to Comburten Village College for the spelling bee, and had a minute to name and spell as many words as they could, in the language. This was a very challenging task, but the four students did extremely well, and did our school proud. Claudia Chitty and Chloe Sainsbury

Water Wise Challenge

On PTB Day, one of the activities for Year 7 was organised by staff from Anglian Water. The activity was to work out the cost of having a water system installed in some places on a map with a budget of £12,000. You also had to build a mini water system that went to every place on the map. We hope you all had a good time from all of the effort put in from the staff.

Water Carrying Challenge

The Year 7 students at Notley High School have endured yet another exciting planned timetable break day on March 16th 2012. One of the three events was an outdoor activity, focusing on the topic of Anglian Water. All the tutor groups split into three so N, O and T completed the activity at the same time, as did E, L and Y, and H, S and B. The tutor groups all competed, and even the teachers and instructors were cheering them!

One activity was the students having to carry small tubs of water on their heads, jumping hurdles, climbing through hoops, running around cones and back again. Another was attempting to lift and carry small tubs of water with only skipping ropes. The last fun activity for them was transferring a full tub of water into an empty tub, using only tiny cups and completing the obstacle course carrying them too. The students worked extremely well together in their groups and enjoyed the day very much. All students at Notley High School are definitely looking forward to the next planned timetable break day.
